Dan Varn Newsletter - 10/5/2009
Greetings all,
Special thanks go out to all those who participated in this weekends Fall Family Overnighter. Despite cold weather and the ever present chance of rain, we had over 90 participants and staff at the event.
MEET THE TROOPS NIGHT: (UPDATED 10/5/09)
The Second Annual Pioneer District Meet the Troops Night will be taking place on Thursday October 8 from 7-9 p.m. at Ridgewood United Methodist Church in Parma. All Boy Scout Troops are invited to attend to set up tables to and advertise their Troops. All Packs are invited to bring their first and second Webelos to the event to show them the Boy Scouting opportunities all over the District. For more information please contact Dan Wedig at danielwedig1@gmail.com.
SECOND RECRUITMENT NIGHTS: (UPDATED 10/5/09)
Attention Cub Scout Packs, if you have not forwarded your second recruitment date to Ericka Ettinger and myself, please send it to us both as soon as possible. We have 7 unit who have given us a date and 10 who have not. Please send them as soon as you can. Thanks.
RECHARTER UPDATE: (UPDATED 10/5/09)
I have some new news regarding recharter and December 2010. The decision has been made that all units WILL NOT recharter in December 2009. We will recharter as normal in April 2010, and again in December of 2010, and from there on out recharter every December. This will mean the following:
* November 12 Recharter Roundtable becomes a regular roundtable, we will also certify centennial forms at this roundtable
* We will have our recharter roundtable on Thursday April 8, with a time schedule coming out
* Units will then recharter for 8 months with appropriate fees
* This will not affect the new youth who have signed up and the charge of 20 dollars, they still have given enough money to pay up until December 2010
YARD CHARGE: (UPDATED 9/21/09)
It is once again yard charge time. I am attaching the sign up sheet to this e-mail. We are asking all units to consider doing some yards in the city of Cleveland. I can tell you that a majority of Pioneer’s Cleveland yards are in Brooklyn or Old Brooklyn, so there should be no issues there. Please e-mail yard charge chair Denise Hughart at denise@isaacinsurance.com , if you have any questions.
FAMILY FRIENDS OF SCOUTUNG: (UPDATED 9/21/09)
Hard to believe, but we are asking for units to think about when they will be having their 2010 FOS Family Presentation, so if you know where and when your Blue and Gold or Court of Honor is, let me know and we can get it on the schedule.
PIONEER DISTRICT RECRUIT A FRIEND INCENTIVE: (UPDATED 9/9/09)
Once again, I am offering an incentive for the boys of our program to go out there and recruit their friends into Scouts. I have attached a form on this update, what is needed, is that this form be filled out for each boy who recruits a friend into Scouts and he signs up. From there the boy who did the recruiting is entered into a drawing for a 100 dollar gift card to the location of his choice. I would ask all leaders to actively promote this because it will be a great opportunity for your unit and your boys.
Thanks all and have a great week.
