Beaumont Trail Projects

The trail sections listed below are continuously being maintained by members of the lodge for use by all Scouts and Scouters. They have been divided into separate stages and will be worked on as such. Be sure to explore all of these areas the next time you visit Beaumont or better yet come out with the next trail crew. It is hard work, but very rewarding.

Stage 1    The Central Loop

This section was completed from Augustus to cabins 5 and 6 near the beechnut nature trail back in 2003. With construction of the new campfire area and logging in 2007 this section of the trail now needs to be remarked or rerouted.

Stage 2    The Grand River Loop

The start of this section of the trail is between Valley View and Tulip Grove campsites. It runs down and along the Grand River and comes back up on the service road by Cabins 9, 8 and 7. It was heavily overgrown and had many fallen trees from the late winter storms of April 2005. A group of 10 arrowmen worked to clear and remark the majority of this section in November of 2005. Many of the same crew returned to complete clearing the remainder of this loop after Spring Fellowship in 2006. Excellent work and well done to all those involved.

Stage 3    The Southeast Loop - approx. 1 mile

This trail explores the area south and east of Three Brothers Creek. The trail head is located east of Cub World, south of Beamont Village, near the OA sign. Follow this trail south, along Three Brothers Creek. As you head west, and proceed up in elevation, you will come to a clearing behind Cub World lake.  Continue west behind the lake and re-enter the woods. Here you will join the Beechnut nature trail. After approximately 1/4 of a mile you will be passing near lodge 10 and finally ending up by lodge 6. This section of the yellow trail was cleared and re-opened in September 2005 by the OA Trail Crew. It had suffered much overgrowth and many fallen trees lay across the path from previous storms. Thanks to all who helped!

Stage 4    The West Loop

This section of the trail covers the area west of the Grand river.

Stage 5    Program Loops

Specialized trails - nature trail, blue trail to cub world, permanent orienteering course, etc.

(The locations and names of all trails are subject to change as needed.)

This project is ambitious and long term and will only succeed if you get involved. Progress is being made with the help of dedicated arrowmen and those participating in the summer camp ordeal program. To get started and meet a great group of people contact the
